Erika-Marie Geiss was kind enough to chat with us about editing, freelance writing and working at home. Following is her personal bio.
Erika-Marie S. Geiss is a freelance writer, editor, non-fiction author and the editor-in-chief/publisher of theWAHMmagazine, the first and only content-driven digital magazine for work-at-home parents.
Also an art historian, Geiss has a B.A in developmental psychology from Brandeis University and an M.A. in art and architectural history from Tufts University.
Geiss has been a Barbara Fish Lee and Muriel G.S. Lewis Fellow at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), has held positions at the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum, the University of New Hampshire, Durham, the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
Geiss writes about many topics including writing, breastfeeding, parenting, "green" issues, women's issues and energy issues. Her writing credits include Monet, Renoir and the Impressionist Landscape (as a contributing author), The Passion of Christ (Publications International, 2004) and articles in Speak2Me magazine, Inkwell Newswatch (IN), The News Herald and World Energy Monthly Review.
Geiss is also a contributing blogger at babiesonline and a guest blogger at Family Resource. Her latest book, The Right Words for any Occasion (Publications International) is scheduled for release fall 2008.
Since January 2008, Geiss has also been the host of the Cyber Savvy Show at Passionate Internet Voices Talk Radio.
Geiss is a member of the Association of Art Editors, the International Women's Writing Guild and the Women's eCommerce Association International. As a non-fiction author, Ms. Geiss is represented by Robert Diforeo/D4EO Literary Agency. Active in local politics, she is a former Commissioner on the Steering Committee for the Master Plan for the City of Taylor and is a member of Friends of the Arts/Taylor Cultural Arts Council. She and her husband Doug are raising their son in the suburbs of Detroit.
