Many of these sites come up again and again in writer's forums, author communities and around the freelance virtual water cooler! Make it a habit to check for writing job leads daily or weekly, and before you know it, you'll be a paid writer, too!

Try your local Craigslist classifieds want ads. Most major and mid size urban cities have a craigslist, and each page includes a subcategory for writing/editing jobs and another one for short term writing/editing gigs.
Here you will generally find full time publishing house positions, but once in a while there is a home-based writing position or contractual project posted.
This is the Gawkers new media job list, and mainly consists of full time positions in NYC, however, once in a while there are some great big-name contract or project-based positions listed.

You will have to register, but it is a free service. Once you get the hang of their sorting function, you can find jobs in your area, or choose the telecommute or contractual drop down menu items.
